Villa Constance

Villa Constance sits right at the water edge, and it wears that position with real grace. A white facade and slender columns are wrapped in climbing vines, framed by palms, olive trees and cypresses, giving the house the settled, timeless feel of a villa that has always belonged to this stretch of coast on the Canoubiers bay.

Inside, the mood is elegant and unhurried. Pale, luminous tones run throughout, lifted here and there by soft champagne accents, so the interiors feel filled with light from early morning. Objects gathered from past journeys, small ships, framed photographs, curios, give the rooms a lived-in character rather than a decorated one. The effect is personal, the opposite of a show home.

The lounge is the villa quiet triumph. A wide bay window looks straight across the pool to the Mediterranean beyond, and from the right seat the room seems to float on the water itself. Five bedrooms host up to twelve guests, and a household team keeps the days running smoothly, leaving you free to do very little. Meals drift naturally onto the terrace, where the water is close enough to hear through the whole evening.

Beachfront on the peninsula is a rare thing, and it shapes the whole experience here. Swim before breakfast, spend the middle of the day in the shade of the terrace, and let the evening arrive slowly with the sound of the sea close by. Some houses impress you on arrival. This one simply makes you want to stay. The sea is right there, so you may as well use it.
